Foster a Pet
Fosters play a vital role in the lives of pets by significantly improving the quality of life of the lucky pets that are chosen to be fostered. All veterinary care, medicine, vaccination and food costs for the fostered animal will be covered by the Shelter.

As a foster you must meet these criteria:
- Love animals and want to make a difference
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Live in Northumberland County
- Be willing to bring your fostered pet into the Shelter for scheduled appointments to meet potential adopters within two days’ notice
- Teach your fostered pet what it means to be a well-mannered family member
- Complete the attached PDF fillable volunteer application (volunteer_application_fncas_july_2022.pdf) which includes a background check through the Sheriff's Department. If you need Adobe Acrobat Reader to download the application, please go to get.adobe.com/reader/ for instructions. After completing your application be sure to physically sign your name where indicated and include a copy of your driver's license.
- If you cannot complete the application as described above you can come into the shelter and fill one out.
