Adopt a Pet
Finding your new friend can begin by reviewing Adoptable Cats and Adoptable Dogs tabs on this website.
Adoption requires completion of an adoption application (see
adoption_application_1-7-2019.pdf), completion of a background check for each adult living in the household (see background_check_adoption_3-29-19.pdf). Please e-mail your completed forms to firstname.lastname@example.org Alternatively, completed forms can be dropped off at the shelter during adoption hours. Generally, background checks would best be completed prior to your visit since the Sheriff's Department background check could delay adoption for a few days until the approval process is complete. Adoption fees of $60 for dogs and $40 for cats are payable by cash or check.
With your adoption you will receive a certificate that pays up to $150 of the costs associated with neutering/spaying your new pet. The certificates are provided through the generous donation of the Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck. Virginia State Law requires that all animals adopted from this facility must be spayed or neutered.
