This page is devoted to all of the available dogs waiting for their forever homes. All animals are kept up to date on their vaccinations, heart worm checked and given a preventative each month. In addition, when you adopt a pet, you receive a certificate for spaying/neutering, possible through our partnership with the Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck. The Northern Neck Kennel Club also graciously offers free classes in Obedience or Manners to adopters. If you have questions regarding these wonderful pets, please call the Shelter at (804) 580-6156.

Lorna is a sweet girl looking for her forever family or person. She is 60 pound lab mix and is 1 year 8 months old. Come visit this sweet girl! She will steal your heart!
Alice is looking for her own forever home. This very affectionate gal enjoys attention and one on one time. She is always delighted to see her favorite people! This pretty redhead is about 50 pounds and around three years old. Alice is quite reactive to other dogs and that increased when she had puppies to protect. She appears to be too focused on cats to live with them. But people, oh yes, this lady loves them. If you would like to meet Alice she shows her true personality and loving ways away from the kennel. Blanca is such a fun, sweet gal. Unfortunately, she’s been overlooked because she does not show well in a shelter environment. She'd really like a family of her own and a place to call home. Ask to take her out to the play area at the Northumberland County Animal Shelter, so you can really meet her and experience her joyous personality. Blanca is not a good fit for cats!

Chief is one of our senior gentlemen. This nine year old fellow has discovered a dog bed is a wonderful pleasure and basking in the sun is delightful. Chief arrived in poor condition, thin with lots of scrapes and ear tears. He's now looking for his special person. Chief is heartworm positive. Due to his age and strength level he is not a good candidate for the standard heartworm treatment so will receive the heartworm preventative monthly. He's good with cats, dogs and children!
