Shelter Alert
This is an update on an event occurring on March 16, 2023 involving the Northumberland County Animal Shelter and the receipt of 58 dogs.
First, thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to the Northumberland County Animal Shelter to assist with the unexpected influx of seized dogs. Our community has reacted quickly and graciously. Unfortunately, our Shelter does not have the ability to accept delivery of Amazon packages if Amazon chooses to use the US Postal Service as the delivery source. This is because the Shelter does not have a mailbox. As a result, all shipments coming from Amazon via US Postal Service will be returned to Amazon. The good news is that our relationship with Chewy.com is different and we are able to receive packages from Chewy. If you choose to make a donation and are comfortable with Chewy.com, we appreciate your kindness and generosity. If you would like to stop by the shelter to offer other donations, we are located at 11703 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, VA. There is a storage building where donations can be left, or if the Shelter is open, Staff or volunteers will gladly accept your items. Your support during this troubled time is commendable and we will be forever grateful.
We continue to get numerous calls from many concerned neighbors about items that the Northumberland County Animal Shelter needs the most. Here are some suggestions:
